| It's FAST! |
We can deliver speeds
as high as 3 Mb/s (That's nearly 100 times faster than many
dial-up connections)!!! Our robust network is backed by a
powerful T3 connection to the internet unlike many other
providers who rely on fractional T1's!!! Also, unlike cable
or DSL modems your upload and download connection speeds are
the same and latency is generally much lower! This means
we can offer faster more consistent connectivity!! Speeds
up to 45Mb/s are available on dedicated point to point connections
(call for a price quote).
|
| Static IP |
You can be assigned a static IP address, which is useful for gaming as well as VPN, MS Netmeeting as well as other internet productivity software. Additional fee may apply. |
| Stay Connected |
Future Technologies high speed internet access is always on. No more waiting for a connection with your dial-up Internet Service Provider only to be kicked off later! |
|
Cost Efficient |
Future Technologies Wireless Internet is cost efficient. NO separate ISP or connection charge is added on top of other prices. This is all included in your one monthly fee! |
| Greater Availability |
Since it's wireless and not tied to existing cables, Future Technologies can provide service to areas without previous access, such as rural communities and individuals. |
| No Extra Phone Line Needed |
Future Technologies doesn't require you to have a separate phone line. Our service is accessed via an antenna, and radio which plugs into a standard ethernet card in your computer! If your computer is not equipped with and ethernet card, we can install one for you for a nominal fee of $25 |
| Works Well for LANs |
Future Technologies offers single IP addresses as well as blocks of addresses or a NAT (network address translation) router. This gives you a greater flexibility to configure your network. |

GLOSSARY>>> BANDWIDTH
The range of frequencies a transmission line or channel can carry: the higher the frequency the higher the bandwidth and the greater the information carrying capacity of a channel. See also the Testing section on our Resources page.
CPU
Central Processing Unit
DIAL-UP
The most popular form of Internet connection for a home user, this is a connection from your desktop computer to the host/server computer over standard telephone lines.
DEDICATED SERVICE
Traffic on our network is prioritized by dedicated and non-dedicated service. Dedicated traffic will be routed as top priority and will be forwarded ahead of non-dedicated traffic in peak periods.
DOWNLOAD
To transfer a file(s) from another computer to your computer. There are a few methods of doing this on the Internet. HTTP, FTP, and as E-mail attachments are the most common. When you "load" a web page into your browser you are essentially "downloading" the page from the server it is hosted on. One of the most resourceful things about the Internet is that you can download almost any type of computer file or program.
DRIVERS
Software that tells your operating system how to use the hardware (such as a PCI card or printer) that is installed on your computer.
DSL - Digital Subscriber Line.
DSL is a technology that uses existing copper wiring found in almost every home and office to provide a fast connection to the Internet. Special hardware is attached to both ends of the line to allow data to transmit over the wires at a far greater speed than the standard phone wiring. DSL is not yet available in many areas because of the distance from a central office or because the local telephone companies have not yet introduced this product.
FIREWALL
A device that protects a private network from the public part. A computer set up to monitor traffic between an Internet site and the Internet. It's designed to keep unauthorized outsiders from tampering with a computer system therefore increasing a server's security.
hosting You are able to create a web and/or e-mail presence by having your own domain. This domain resides on the FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES servers. Our computers act as "hosts" to your information, which frees you from having to run your own set of servers.
IP ADDRESS
Internet Protocol address. A numeric address that is given to servers and users connected to the Internet. For servers it is translated into a domain name by a Domain Name Server aka the DNS.
ISP
Internet Service Provider. A company that provides access to the Internet. Before you can connect to the Internet you must first establish an account with an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
KBPS
Kilobits per second.
PCI CARD
Peripheral Component Interconnect. A local bus standard developed by Intel Corporation. Most modern PCs include a PCI bus in addition to a more general ISA expansion bus. Many analysts, however, believe that PCI will eventually supplant ISA entirely.
WIRELESS
The FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES backbone infrastructure and connection to your site is established without the use of long cable or wire runs, as is used by the phone company or cable company. FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES wireless operates on the 2.4 ghz wireless frequency, utilizing Cisco brand wireless products (read more about wireless on Cisco's website). You will only have a cable that goes from your antenna to your computer.
